Mary J Blige New Songs Whole Lotta Love & Stairway To Heaven

Mary J Blige - Whole Lotta Love

Here are two bonus tracks from Mary J Blige called “Whole Lotta Love” which was produced by RedOne and “Stairway To Heaven” which was revised by Travis Barker, “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai.
Blige with the help of a sensational electric guitar did a nice job on “Whole Lotta Love” which was originally sang by Led Zeppelin in 1969 (you can listen to it below) and most recently by Adam Lambert.

Blige delivered a very strong and emotional performance on “Whole Lotta Love” .

Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love

The singer said about the songs:

“I did Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ — it’s crazy.I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I’m not going to say I’ve been to their concerts, but I’ve listened to their music since I was a child, and it’s always moved me, especially ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is just fun.Of course, there’s definitely an inner rock chick in Mary J. Blige.Oh man I had a good time doing A Whole Lotta Love, the acting it out, being the rock and roll Mary was so much fun"

The tracks are featured on the international edition of Blige’s CD “Stronger With Each Tear”.

The Most Memorable Music Biopics

As The Runaways hits theaters, a look back at 12 other pitch-perfect tributes to music legends

Notorious (2009)

“Are you a bad guy trying to be good or a good guy trying to be bad,” asks Faith Evans in this engrossing Biggie Smalls biopic, to which the larger-than-life hip-hop star (played by Jamal Woolard) responds, “I’m just trying to make it big.” That young Biggie is played by Christopher Wallace’s son makes the tribute all the more touching.

Velvet Goldmine (1998)

Todd Haynes’ glittering valentine to glam rock features Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan McGregor as fictionalized versions of David Bowie and Iggy Pop.

I’m Not There (2007)

Six actors played Bob Dylan-inspired characters in Todd Haynes’ acclaimed film, and the result was one riveting, multifaceted portrait of the folk icon. Our favorite? Cate Blanchett, who plays Dylan when he went electric—and gives an electrifying performance.

The Doors (1991)

Hello, we loved Val Kilmer as the title band’s iconic front man, Jim Morrison, in this Oliver Stone classic, which features more than two dozen Doors tracks.

What’s Love Got to Do With It (1993)

This Tina Turner tribute’s permanent place in the pantheon of rock biopics has everything to do with Angela Bassett’s spot-on performance—not to mention the unforgettable opening scene featuring young Tina (Rae’ven Kelly) getting kicked out of choir for her racy rendition of “This Little Light of Mine.”

Ray (2004)

Jamie Foxx earned an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA Award for his portrayal of R&B pioneer Ray Charles.

Selena (1997)

We could fall in love with Jennifer Lopez in her breakout role, which chronicles the Grammy-winning Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez through love, stardom, and her tragic murder by the president of her fan club at age 23.

Walk the Line (2005)

We kept our eyes wide open all the time during this drama following the life of country legend Johnny Cash—especially when Cash responds to Sun Records owner Sam Phillips’ request to play the “one last song that would express how he felt about life if he were dying” with a visceral rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues.”

Last Days (2005)

Director Gus Van Sant opted for a fictionalized account of Kurt Cobain’s final moments in this film—about a disenchanted rock star named Blake—rather than a straight biopic of the Nirvana front man.

Control (2007)

Newcomer Sam Riley perfectly channeled Ian Curtis in Anton Corbijn’s portrait of the increasingly isolated lead singer of seminal postpunk band Joy Division, rendered in lush black and white.

La Vie en Rose (2007)

The lovely Marion Cotillard won an Academy Award for her performance as French chanteuse Édith Piaf in Olivier Dahan’s acclaimed film, which evokes her life’s events through a series of flashbacks.

Sid and Nancy (1986)

Scenes like the one in which the title characters kiss against a Dumpster while trash descends in slow motion made Alex Cox’s portrait of the heroin-addled romance between Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and girlfriend Nancy Spungen a cult classic.

New Green Day album in the works

The Californian trio have started working on a follow-up to 21st Century Breakdown.

Green Day has started working on a new album just before they head out on tour in May. It will be a follow-up to the band`s incredibly successful albums 21st Century Breakdown and American Idiot.

Since five years elapsed between the release of those two albums, Green Day vowed to quickly start working on a new one after 21st Century Breakdown came out.

In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, singer Billie Joe Armstrong said the group was keeping its promise and getting down to business. He said, "We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam. We wanted to get (the new songs) down in some early form."

The guys from Green Day also worked with Rock Band game designers to get ready for the release of Green Day: Rock Band.

Universal lowers CD prices

Universal lowers CD prices

UMG launches an aggressive pricing strategy to revive the lagging CD market.

Universal Music Group is taking the bull by the horns. It announced a policy to lower the price of its CDs to $10 or less. The company wants to kick start the CD market which has been on the downslide for many years since the advent of MP3 players, online stores and piracy.

This new pricing policy will see the profit from an individual CD drop and not exceed 25 cents. But an increase in the overall sale of CDs should provide a counterbalance the loss per unit.

This announcement has made retailers happy because it should not affect their own profit margin.

Universal`s decision follows one made by Trans World Entertainment. After implementing this test pricing policy, that company has seen its sales increase by 100%.

Universal Music Group has artists like Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and Jay-Z on its roster, to name a few.

Powerful Women in Music

dodane: 2010-03-20 17:03:59 ostatnia zmiana: 2010-03-20 17:03:59
Not so long ago, the music biz was a male-dominated industry, with little room to move for those without the Y chromosome… But things have changed since those archaic days – and girl power is in full force in the industry these days. We aren’t talking about Spice Girls brand girl power, but real deal female icons with major influence who are calling the shots and making the scene… The ladies are the ones who really wear the pants in the music industry today (although, in many cases, apparently, pants are optional – Beyoncé and Madonna, I am looking at you).

Here is a list of some of the most powerful women in music:

MADONNA – We are living in a material world, and she is THE material girl… and how! Forbes magazine recently rated her as the richest woman in the music industry, in fact, in 2008 alone, she earned more than $120 million with her Sticky and Sweet Tour. By some estimates, Madonna is worth about roughly one billion dollars!!! Not bad for a girl that started her career as an employee at a donut shop, where she says she was sacked for squirting jelly all over the customers… hmmmmm, something tells me that wasn’t the last time she was involved in any such activity!

BEYONCÉ – Sasha Fierce wields some kind of super power in the music biz. The 28 year-old beauty was rated by Billboard magazine as the top female artist of the decade, and in February 2010, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) listed her as the top certified and best-selling overall artist of the decade. She’s consistently been the darling of the Grammy Awards (having won 16 trophies to date), and she is rumoured to bring in about $87 million per year… not to mention she is married to the “Sinatra” of our era – Mr. Jay-Z, who could probably have anyone meet their maker with the snap of his bling-adorned fingers. In fact, Forbes recently rated the duo as Hollywood’s top earning couple.

CELINE DION – From small town Quebec to the big show, Celine has come a long way!! She did a little stint at a joint called the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas that probably paid her a decent wage… Let’s see – 5 years of sold out shows at the 4,100-seat venue, where tickets sell for a small fortune - do the math, carry a couple of zeros… and well, she grossed almost $400 million… yeah – she’s not doing too bad for herself. Plus, she is going back for more! This week, Celine begins another residency at the Colosseum for another three years – and this time, she claims she will include lots more air guitar (her favourite move) into her set!!!

MILEY CYRUS – the 17 year-old daughter of Mr. Achy Breaky Heart has done quite well for herself, thank you very much! She was listed in Time magazine`s 100 Most Influential People in The World in 2008, after achieving massive success as an actress and singer. And now little Miley has a boyfriend, an Aussie actor named Liam Hemsworth (who plays opposite Miley in the upcoming film, The Last Song). Liam claims he didn’t know she was such a big star when they met. Yeah right, buddy – maybe your sight was obscured by the moneybags in your eyes! We all know that Australia is far away, but you would have had to be living under Ayers Rock to not know what you were getting into when you turned on the charm with your co-star!!!

BRITNEY SPEARS – We may ridicule her all we want, but Britney has achieved one of the most successful comebacks in the last few years, especially considering the chew-em-up-and-spit-em-out celebrity culture of which she is a fixture. Brit is laughing all the way to the bank, having raked in almost $40 million for her worldwide Circus Tour (which had a total gross of over $80 million for North America alone!) Not bad Britney… not bad, at all! Maybe you can buy back our respect after all!

JENNIFER LOPEZ – She may have just split with her record company (Sony Music), but J.Lo is still a major force to be reckoned with in the music industry. She was listed by Forbes as Hollywood`s richest woman of Latin-American descent, and as her fortune continues to grow, she continues to make the necessary adjustments – check out the extra room she’s got on that dress to accommodate her ever expanding (ahem…) assets

LADY GAGA – The 23 year-old “IT” girl is probably the most buzzed-about, twittered-about (or is that tweeted-about?), talked-about star in the music biz today… but you would think with all that attention, someone would warn her about all that shmutz on her face…

RIHANNA – Here is an example guts and determination! Rihanna went through a very tough situation, which could have been devastating for some careers, but this girl has cojones - and her career has only benefited from her strength and determination to rise above. And what of Chris Brown? That poor fool is begging fans for forgiveness and support – and hopefully he’ll keep have to keep begging for the rest of his career!

TAYLOR SWIFT – She seems like such a nice, simple girl. She probably is, but she is certainly gaining power like some kind of planet-devouring comic-book monster! The 20 year-old country star from Pennsylvania was named Artist of the Year by Billboard Magazine in 2009; she recently took home a handful of Grammys; she was awarded ``Most Digital Song Certifications - Female Solo Artist`` by RIAA for 25 songs achieving gold or multi-platinum status; she won the 2010 People`s Choice Award for Favorite Female Artist; and she was interrupted by Kanye at a live awards ceremony – so basically she’s made it. But she is so nice – that there’s gotta be something dark lurking in her persona… anyone? anyone?

SHARON OSBOURNE – Ozzy’s wife may not be an actual singer – but she does have tremendous influence and power in the biz, and she is not afraid to wield it. The reality TV star (who is said to be the 25th richest woman in the UK) has a dark and venomous side – in fact, if you slander her or her family in the press, she has been known to send you a Tiffany’s box full of poo! Classssy!

One of them being already posted remix of "Each Tear" with Jay Sean. Here we have the other 4 tracks: Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin Cover), I Can`t Wait, City On Fire, and Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin Cover). &B singer Monica hasn`t had much success over the last couple of years. Her last album "The Makings of Me" failed to chart or sell noticeably. Now on her sixth effort things seem to be looking up for Monica. With her reality series on BET doing well and current single "Everything to Me" peaking to #3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. As for the album she has said that she wanted to go back to her old sound. Doing just that the album is filled with great R&B tracks with a modern flare to them. The Monica you loved years ago seems to have come back bringing you a great contemporary R&B album
